I'm Heather "Braveheart" Washington, but you may call me Brave. I was given that name back in college because of my approach to life characterized by a blend of fun and fearless determination which has seen me through numerous challenges, turning obstacles into steppingstones. My decision to move from Connecticut to North Carolina, driven by love, was yet another chapter in my adventure, approached with the same zest for life that defines my path. By starting Brave's Portable Parties, this entrepreneurial leap of faith into the unknown, driven by passion and courage, underscores my very essence and spirit! It's a reminder that with the right attitude, even the most daunting changes can lead to new beginnings and beautiful journeys. Charlotte not only gained a new resident, but a person whose very presence promises to infuse the community with resilience, warmth and unyielding bravery!
All About Me
In the heart of Bridgeport, Connecticut is where I earned the name Braveheart, a name powerful, strong, and full of the character I’d hope to emanate one day. Connecticut is also where my story of resilience, ambition, and familial love begins. Raised by an iron-willed mother, along with 3 siblings, my journey is a true testament to the power of perseverance and the unbreakable bond of family.
My educational path led me from Central High School to Post University, laying the groundwork for a series of professional endeavors. Yet, it was the realm of motherhood where I found my true calling, embracing the joys and challenges of raising two sons, Hessai and Tyler, with a fierce determination to guide them towards becoming compassionate and accomplished individuals.
The unforeseen challenges of the 2020 pandemic, however, would test my resolve like never before. Facing job loss and displacement, I made a bold decision that would redefine our lives --- relocating to the welcoming embrace of the South. This move wasn’t just about seeking a new beginning; it was about finding a community where the warmth of human connection flourishes, where the concept of family extends beyond blood ties. It was here in Charlotte, NC that Brave’s Portable Parties was born, not merely as a business venture, but as a manifestation of my desire to spread joy, foster connections, and give back to the community that offered us a second home.
As I look forward to sharing smiles, hugs, and the boundless love that has been generously shown to me and my family, I pray that my story stands as a beacon of hope and a reminder of the strength that lies in community and the courage to start anew.
